We believe learning should be…

Child led
Community focused
Hands on
Interest driven
Nature centric
Wild Indigo Academy might be a good fit for your family if…
You’d like to withdraw your child from the “race of childhood,” protecting the crucial stages of early brain development and allowing early academics to unfold at a more appropriate and organic pace.
You desire a different approach to schooling for your child than what the typical school experience offers these days.
You don’t mind your child NOT being in school forty hours per week.
The idea of a peaceful rhythm that prioritizes play and nature while maximizing learning sounds appealing to your family.
You encourage your child to take risks and try new things.
You’d love to see your child’s creativity taken to the next level.

About Ms. Angela
I hold an MEd in Early Childhood Education and I have over 15 years of professional experience teaching young children. After I had my daughter I began researching different styles of education to make sure I could give her what I believe to be the best education possible. I became passionate about the role of play and nature in child development and I am convinced that it should be an integral part of education. I believe that pushing early adult-directed academic instruction can dramatically hinder a child’s cognitive growth and development, negatively impacting overall potential for academics, social skills, executive function, motor skills, and more. I am excited for what Wild Indigo Academy will offer my daughter and a small group of her peers.
FAQs
What will the class size be?
My hope is to have a class size of 4-6 children.
What age children will be accepted?
I will accept children who are four, five, or six years old as of August 2025.
How will I know my child is progressing and meeting learning milestones?
I will be using the Reggio Emilia style documentation process. Each child will have a learning journal and a photo portfolio to show their progress. This style allows the children’s learning processes to be visible for teachers and parents to assess the depth and breadth of learning and development that is happening in the classroom. It also makes the learning processes visible to the children themselves, allowing them to learn how to learn and how to express their knowledge and ideas.
What style of education is Wild Indigo Academy and what curriculum is being used?
Wild Indigo Academy is a Reggio inspired approach to homeschooling with Waldorf inspired literacy and Montessori inspired math. I will be following the Nurture Wildflowers plan, created by Jerrica Sannes. Much of the focus of study for Science and Social Studies will be based on the interests of the children.
How does Wild Indigo Academy meet Georgia schooling requirements?
If your child is six years old or older you must file a declaration of intent to homeschool with the Georgia Department of Education by September 1, 2025. This is an easy process. The Reggio style documentation I keep will meet the requirements needed to comply with Georgia’s Homeschool Law.
